Red-legged (Jordan's) Salamander (Plethodon shermani, formerly Plethodon jordani)

Found only in the Nantahala Mountains of western North Carolina, this salamander can be fairly common on moist forests under leaf litter and fallen logs & bark.

Bright reddish legs on a dark bluish-black body identify this taxon. The light flecks visible in the photos here are flecks of dirt.
