Broad-headed Skink (Eumeces laticeps)

Fairly common in NC exept in the hihger mountains and barrier islands. This skink looks very similar to the Five-lined Skink but is larger and usually has 7 visible pale lines, however adult males lose their lines and become red-orange in breeding season.
