Eastern Phoebe (Sayornis phoebe)

In North Carolina, phoebes are fairly common year round residents from the middle mountain elevations to the upper coastal plain. They're usually found near water and often build nests on manmade structures where small ledges exist.

Note all dark bill, dark head with no eye ring, and pale yellowish wash to belly.
