Thread-legged Bugs (Emesinae, a subfamily of the Reduviidae)

About 60 species or so are recognized for North America. They resemble small walking stick bugs, but thread-legged bugs walk only on their 4 hind legs, using their front two legs for grasping like a mantis.

Some authorities place the thread-legged bugs as a subfamily of the Assassin Bugs (Reduviidae) as I've done here. Others elevate them to their own family, the Ploiariidae.
