Twilight Darner (Gynacantha nervosa)

Generally flies around dusk in forested habitats and is therefore difficult to see, this species does not occur in North Carolina. It's fairly common in FL and from Mexico south to Brazil.

This individual flew before I could adjust the camera and get any additional shots. It was perched vertically, though that might be difficult to discern in this photo.
