Red-necked Phalarope (Phalaropus lobatus)

Unusual away from the ocean in NC, I found this bird in the rain on the parking lot behind the terminal building of the Brunswick Co. airport on 30 May 2004. Yep, that's wet pavement that she's standing on!

Due to the low light conditions caused by the fact that it was gloomy & rainy and only 8:15am, I had to shoot the pictures at ISO 400. These photos were digiscoped by hand-holding a Nikon CoolPix 4500 to the eyepiece of a Kowa TSN-824 spotting scope.
