Hudsonian Godwit (Limosa haemastica)

Rare in North Carolina, one to a few Hudsonian Godwits are usually found along the Outer Banks most autumns.

Note grayish back and lack of warm buffy ground color on underparts. Several rufous feathers remain from breeding plumage on the belly of this molting individual.
