2020 Durham CBC was Sunday December 20th, 2020
Due to the pandemic, a couple of things will be different this year:
* There will be no in-person countdown dinner. Closer to count day, we will inquire about interest in a virtual count-down (e.g. to be held over Zoom).
* In organizing coverage, we will not attempt to pair up new participants with established parties this year. In general, we will advise new participants who are not comfortable counting independently to wait for next year.
* Be aware that Audubon mandates that counters from different households maintain strict social distancing in the field.
* Please be especially mindful of private property this year, and make any necessary arrangements with landowners well in advance.
* Most importantly, do not feel pressured to count if you don't want to. (We hope that you don't feel pressured in normal years either!) Audubon has explicitly assured us that their long-term dataset will not be compromised by inconsistent or missing data from 2020. As organizers, for our part, we will ensure that our sense of who the "regular counter" is for a given territory will not change for next year (2021) for any counters who prefer to skip this year due to the pandemic.
